Creating Paper Bag Buildings

Last Friday we created paper bag buildings.  We had to draw our building on a paper bag (some of us had never seen a paper bag before),  stuff it with newspaper and then we could add extra things like a roof or chimney.  Some people made houses (one was on fire), others made shops and someone made a fire station. At assembly we went up to share what we had made.  Have a look at the photos of us making our buildings and what they looked like when we had finished.

Exciting new equipment to try out today. The school has these brand new Crazy Catch nets available to use for PE/fitness and we got to use them first. Thanks Mr Searle for letting us use them for Discovery, we had heaps of fun.

The Perfect Day For Dressing Up

We had so much fun today dressing up and pretending to be someone or something else.
It was very exciting to discover that we had some 'new to us' costumes to use.

Today we made pictures using scratch art.  Most of us had not done this kind of art before, so there was a lot of talk about how the skewers must be magic pens.  After a while some of us figured out that the colour must be trapped between the white backing and black front.

Discovery Salon

Today we had a pop-up salon at Discovery.  We had to make an appointment (to be the stylist) by writing our names on the board, so we knew who was having the next turn.  We chose what colour hair we wanted, how to style and cut it and what accessories we would like to add.  It was so popular we are having the salon again next week because we didn't all get to have our turn.

R . E . S . P . E . C . T

We learned about respect (our value of the term) by making soup today.  Each of the ingredients represents an aspect of showing respect to ourselves, our environment and others.  Here is the recipe and some photos of us making the soup and then enjoying eating it.
